Thomas Jefferson designed our U.S. coin system based on Spanish 8 Reale Dollars, but he changed it to a true decimal system where one dime is one tenth of a dollar. The first Flowing Hair
Dimes were struck by the U.S. Mint in 1794. Since then Draped Bust, Capped Bust, Seated Liberty, Barber, Mercury and Roosevelt Dimes have been issued. Getting a type set of every variety is a great goal!
