$5 Indian Gold coins were minted between 1908 and 1929. These Half Eagle gold coins were designed by Bella Pratt at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt. They feature a unique incuse design. The Indian
and Eagle are sunk beneath the surface of the coin. Many collectors prefer to own their gold coins in the form of these spectacular gold Indians. They were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints—and just one
year—1909—at the fabled New Orleans Mint.
